For city dwellers like us the brightness and sheer number of stars at night is a constant source of wonder. Thanks to Al MacRobert for forwarding this image of the night sky above the cottage; For the technically minded he used a 10-20-mm Sigma zoom wide angle at 10mm focal length yielding about 130 degrees field of view, camera set at 3,200ASA/ISO @ F5 with approximately 2 minutes exposure.

Hillwalking is always a favorite choice of guests, Melissa got a good
view of the Loch out to Mull on Christmas day.

If you bring some fat balls this greater spotted woodpecker may make an appearance, and the many finches soon demolish a bag of peanuts! Spring seems to be the best time for spotting birds with a bag of nuts sometimes not lasting the day. During summer the bird table is visited much less frequently and we are not sure if this is due to plentiful feeding elsewhere or perhaps the presence of the many predators that also take an interest in our feeding birds.

Nature watching is fun, this red deer stag is strolling about 50 yards from the cottage and could clearly be seen from the window.
